Clear out your old tyres — free, this February.

A funded Legend Regional Council tyre amnesty. Register your household or property, bring your old car, 4WD and farm tyres to a participating site during February, and we'll make sure every tyre is recycled — and tracked all the way there.

Places are limited, so registration is required to reserve your drop-off.

Why now

Old tyres pile up in sheds and paddocks — and they don't go away

Worn tyres collect behind sheds, in paddocks and along fence lines. Stockpiles are a fire risk, hold water that breeds mosquitoes, and too many end up buried or dumped. Getting them to a proper recycler has been costly and awkward, especially for big farm tyres. This amnesty makes it free, local and simple, for a limited window.

How it works

Three steps — and the council does most of it

1. Register online

Residents and landholders tell you their suburb, roughly how many tyres and what kind, and their preferred site and week. Registration reserves a spot and helps the council manage capacity and program budget.

2. Drop off — free

They bring tyres to their booked site during their window. No charge; the on-site team counts each tyre by type against the registration at drop-off.

3. Recycled & tracked

An accredited tyre recycler processes them — and every tyre is counted and tracked from drop-off to recycling, so the council has a verified record.

Behind the scenes

Powered by Tidal Shift

The program runs on Tidal Shift — so the council manages the whole amnesty in one place, stays on budget, and can account for every tyre.

Registration & capacity

Households register online; the council caps numbers per site and week to stay within budget.

Chain of custody

Every tyre is counted at drop-off and again at delivery, so the numbers reconcile end to end.

Verified reporting
