Recycle your old solar panels — free, this November.

A funded Legend Regional Council program. Register your household, drop your end-of-life solar panels at a participating site across November, and we'll make sure every panel is recycled — and tracked all the way there.

Places are limited, so registration is required to reserve your drop-off.

Why now

Old solar panels are piling up — with nowhere easy to take them

As early rooftop systems reach end of life, damaged and replaced panels are stacking up in sheds and yards. They're bulky, contain recoverable materials, and shouldn't go to landfill — but proper recycling has been hard to reach and costly. This program makes it free, local and simple, for a limited window.

How it works

Three steps — and the council does most of it

1. Register online

Residents tell you their suburb, how many panels, and their preferred site and week. Registration reserves a spot and helps the council manage capacity and program budget.

2. Drop off — free

Residents bring panels to their booked site during their window. No charge; the on-site team logs each panel against the registration at drop-off.

3. Recycled & tracked

An accredited processor recovers the materials — and every panel is counted and tracked from drop-off to recycling, so the council has a verified record.

Behind the scenes

Powered by Tidal Shift

The program runs on Tidal Shift — so the council manages the whole amnesty in one place, stays on budget, and can account for every panel.

Registration & capacity

Households register online; the council caps numbers per site and week to stay within budget.

Chain of custody

Every panel is counted at drop-off and again at delivery, so the numbers reconcile end to end.
